McLean began painting in oil professionally in Boynton Beach, FL in the 1980’s and won her first ribbon, Honorable Mention, for her 24” x 36” painting called "Red Slippers" at an exhibit in West Palm Beach, FL.
In 1989, she moved to Eau Gallie, FL where her art career flourished and opened a studio, painted and taught for 20 years. In 2009, she moved to New Port Richey FL. to be near family. She continued her artist career, exhibited and taught at the Dunedin Fine Art Center in Dunedin FL, and was the Art Director of the Downtown New Port Richey Art Gallery.
She now exhibits her work at the Woodfield Fine Art Gallery in St. Petersburg, FL and is a Guest Artist of Eau Gallery’s online gallery. Fran McLean’s use of chiaroscuro and color transports the viewer into an emotional encounter and thus into their intimate relationship with the beauty of her artwork.
“When I sit at my easel and begin to paint, my mind, body, soul, and canvas become one and it is my hope that the viewer will connect with the spirit of my work.” See the more of Fran's work here.
